Recovering from a botched deal with AbbVie last year, Irish drugmaker Shire has agreed to purchase New Jersey-based NPS Pharmaceuticals for $5.2 billion.
Davis Polk & Wardwell, along with Slaughter and May, is representing Shire in the transaction, while Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom is serving as legal counsel to NPS.
As part of the deal, announced Monday, Shire would pay $46 per share in cash to acquire all outstanding shares of NPS.
