Marc Marotta, a corporate and public affairs partner at Foley & Lardner in Milwaukee and one of Wisconsin’s most respected attorneys, died Wednesday at 52 from a brain aneurysm.

A former high school basketball star in Pittsburgh, Marotta went on to play college ball at Marquette University in Milwaukee, where he played under the late Rick Majerus and was a three-time Academic All-American. He was drafted by the National Basketball Association’s New York Knicks in 1984, but chose Harvard Law School instead, and joined Foley & Lardner in 1987.
