Six years after big British firm Ashurst brought on a team of 10 finance partners in New York and Washington, D.C., from McKee Nelson ahead of the latter’s ultimately ill-fated merger with Bingham McCutchen, Paul Hastings has swooped in to pick up some of those lawyers from a leading collateralized loan obligation and structured finance team in both cities.

EUGENE FERRER, a finance partner at Ashurst and former U.S. managing partner at the London-based firm’s New York office, is one of at least four lawyers heading to Paul Hastings. Joining Ferrer in leaving Ashurst for Paul Hastings are finance partners SCOTT FAGA and NICOLE SKALLA, along with counsel BRIAN WHALEY, all three of whom are based inside the Beltway.
