Cravath, Swaine & Moore can once again boast a single-tier partnership, returning to the strictly all-equity model that had been a hallmark of the elite New York firm.

Partner John White removed himself from the equity partnership four years ago, becoming Cravath's sole nonequity partner, when his wife Mary Jo White became chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

With his wife now back in private practice at Debevoise & Plimpton, he once again holds a stake in the firm's profits, Cravath said on Thursday.
