John Dedyo, a longtime partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York, has joined Hunton & Williams' finance and securitization practice in the city. Dedyo is the third lateral partner hired by the firm in two weeks.

“I saw this really as an opportunity to broaden and grow my practice, while helping Hunton & Williams continue to expand its practice and services that it can offer to its clients,” Dedyo said Tuesday. “[They] are doing cutting edge, creative deals, for sophisticated clients and doing so in a collaborative way.”

A former banking and finance partner at Mayer Brown, Dedyo left that firm in June 2001 for Weil, where he spent nearly the next 16 years representing asset managers, investors, issuers and underwriters, among others, in all aspects of privately placed and publicly offered securization transactions. (At Weil, Dedyo was one of a legion of lawyers from the firm to work on the massive bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.)
