The rapid recruitment effort embarked on by Jenner & Block this year continued Friday as the firm brought on Suedeen Kelly, co-chair of the energy regulatory, markets and enforcement practice at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, as a partner in Washington, D.C.

Kelly, a former commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, is a prominent lawyer in the energy sector, where she focuses her practice on business, enforcement, litigation, policy and regulatory matters for clients in the electric and natural gas industries. Oil infrastructure, hydro-licensing and carbon emissions are some of the areas where Kelly has particular expertise.

She joined Akin Gump in November 2012 from Squire Patton Boggs predecessor Patton Boggs, where she served as co-chair of the firm's public policy and regulatory department. Kelly joined Patton Boggs in April 2010, having served as a FERC commissioner from 2003 to 2009 during the presidential administrations of George W. Bush and Barack Obama. (The FERC is a federal agency that regulates electric utilities and oil pipelines, hydroelectric projects and the natural gas industry.)
