Leslie Caldwell is coming back to California.

A former partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, Caldwell most recently served as head of the U.S. Department of Justice's criminal division in Washington, D.C., leaving her post in January after almost three years in the role.

Latham & Watkins will announce Wednesday that Caldwell will join the firm's San Francisco office in September as a partner in its white-collar defense and investigations practice. Caldwell becomes the latest recruit to Latham's litigation ranks, which a week ago picked up two partners from Kirkland & Ellis in New York.
