Third-, fourth- and fifth-year associates are as happy as ever at their law firms, according to our annual survey—in fact, their satisfaction has been slowly rising year after year for a while now. But that doesn’t mean everything is perfect. They want to know more about the path to partnership; many of them are frustrated by working with inadequate technology; and there remains a gap in perception when accounting for gender and diversity. Below, we break down this year’s survey from every angle, including interactive graphics detailing the national and city-by-city responses we received.

The numbers bode well for law firms, but digging into associates’ responses to our survey shows that there is plenty more to be done to keep them fully satisfied, starting with a little more transparency.

Vivia Chen offers a series of suggestions to keep associates content without draining your coffers.
