White & Case has hired Stuart Bressman as a partner in the firm's global capital markets practice in New York.

Stuart Bressman

Bressman, who previously practiced at Proskauer Rose, advises issuers and investment banks in public and private securities offerings, often with a cross-border component.

“Stuart's strong background advising clients on the full range of equity offerings builds upon the established expertise of our practice,” White & Case partner Stuart Matty, who leads the firm's Global Capital Markets Practice, said in a statement. “In addition, his strong experience and skill set in alternative financing deepens the bench of expertise available to our clients.”

Alternative financing, which includes confidentially marketed public offerings (CMPOs), registered direct investments, and private investments in public equity (PIPEs), have become more mainstream over the years, as they have brought successful results, Bressman said.

Bressman's hiring comes on the heels of several partner-level additions to White & Case's capital markets practice in 2018. Era Anagnosti joined from the SEC in October, Edward So joined in September, Taisa Markus came aboard from Paul Hastings in February, and Rupa Briggs joined from Shearman & Sterling in November.

Proskauer did not immediately respond to a request for a comment on Bressman's departure.
