Eric Bergner, head of the intellectual property practice at Moses & Singer and an attorney there for more than 27 years, has moved to Manatt Phelps & Phillips's digital and technology practice in New York.

Bergner advises clients in the consumer electronics, publishing, and entertainment sectors on licensing, advertising and the safeguarding of intellectual property in the context of software and digital platforms.

“Manatt's exceptional reputation in the digital media space precedes it, and that is what initially sparked my interest in the firm. As I met with the attorneys and consultants here, it became clear to me why Manatt has earned this reputation. I am looking forward to being able to leverage the firm's talent and knowledge base,” Bergner said.

Manatt is in expansion mode. The arrival of Bergner comes within days of the recruitment of former Venable partner Po Yi as a marketing and advertising partner in New York.

Bergner's hiring also closely follows that of Lisa Suennen, a San Francisco-based venture capitalist and entrepreneur who became firmwide head of Manatt's digital and technology group in December 2018.

“I am very much looking forward to working with Lisa, and to leveraging her business acumen in the digital media space. Her arrival at the firm spoke volumes to me about Manatt's dedication to growing my practice area,” Bergner said.

William T. Quicksilver, CEO and managing partner of Manatt, said in a statement, “Eric has represented some of the largest global consumer electronics, entertainment and media companies, and his extensive experience will provide tremendous value and leadership to Manatt's digital and technology group.”

Moses & Singer did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Bergner's departure.
