Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison flexed its lateral hiring muscles again this week, adding partner Sarah Stasny from Kirkland & Ellis' marquee private equity practice.
Stasny, based in New York, joined Kirkland three years ago from Weil, Gotshal & Manges with Michael Weisser, who is still listed on Kirkland's website as a partner. Kirkland touted the pair at the time for their work with many leading private equity funds and their portfolio clients.
“I see private equity as a continuing growth area for our firm, and Sarah is a perfect fit for what we are trying to accomplish strategically,” Paul Weiss chairman Brad Karp said in an emailed statement on her move Monday. In announcing Stasny's hire, Karp praised her “stellar reputation and following among the world's most sophisticated private equity firms.”
According to Paul Weiss, her clients have included Altas Partners, American Securities, Avista Capital Partners, EQT Infrastructure, Trilantic North America and Two Sigma, as well as a pension fund clientele that includes Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, OMERS Private Equity and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.
Stasny is joining Paul Weiss amid multiple high-profile hires by the firm in recent weeks. Those include Jeannie Rhee, a prominent member of special counsel Robert Mueller III's team who was Mueller's partner at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and U.S. Supreme Court star Kannon Shanmugam.
“We are in the talent business and are always on the lookout for superstars who enhance our strategic profile,” Karp said in a statement.
A Kirkland representative said the firm was thankful for her contributions and wished her well. Weisser, her former partner there, was not immediately available to comment.
Stasny could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.
