Financing attorney Jamie Class has joined Foley & Lardner in Boston as a partner after 27 years of practicing at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr. She said she was drawn to Foley for its deep finance bench.

Class, who arrived at Foley this month, works on a broad range of debt transactions, from municipal debt offerings to asset-based loans. "With Foley, there will be a big bench of people who also know how to do these things, so I'll feel supported no matter what kind of transaction I'm working on," she said.

She said she was also attracted to Foley for its partnership opportunities. She left Wilmer as special counsel. Foley has a two-tiered partnership as defined by The American Lawyer while Wilmer has a single-tier, equity-only partner class.

"I am glad to be in the position as a partner where I'm encouraged to build these relationships," she said.

The chair of Foley's finance practice group, Laura Bilas, said in a statement that Class' practice "strategically fits well within our existing finance group and extends our capabilities to support the firm's transactional practices."

In 2018, Foley merged with Dallas-based Gardere Wynne Sewell in 2018, swelling by more than 100 attorneys and driving gross revenue up 22%. Foley reported gross revenues of $836.7 million—although Wilmer's gross revenues exceed a billion dollars a year.

Wilmer did not respond to a request for comment on Class' departure.
