Litigation powerhouse Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan announced its launch of a dedicated cannabis practice last month. The move was driven, according to the firm, by increasing demand from existing cannabis clients for sophisticated litigation expertise.
It's a relatively simple equation: As players in the fledging legal marijuana industry mature, they are going to see business disputes that end up in court, says Quinn partner Robert Becher, the head of Quinn's practice.
On this Legal Speak episode, Becher, who's based in Los Angeles, speaks with Law.com reporter Patrick Smith about the firm's ambitions to be the go-to litigation firm for cannabis clients, the regulatory impediments for cannabis businesses and what it takes to keep up with constantly shifting laws.
