For the Am Law 100 as a whole, average revenue per lawyer, the metric that we've long regarded as the most reliable measure of a firm's financial health, increased by 3%, lower than the 4.2% increase at Am Law 100 firms last year. In 2019, 82 firms posted a gain in RPL, compared with 83 in 2018.
Baker & Hostetler posted 2019's largest growth in RPL, with a 16.1% gain. Kramer Levin had the largest drop, 5%.
Figures on this chart are rounded to the nearest $1,000. Firms that are tied are listed alphabetically. Leverage is the ratio of all lawyers (minus equity partners) to equity partners.
