The Chinese government’s controversial plan to implement a national security law in Hong Kong has sparked reactions from Hong Kong’s legal professional bodies and foreign companies, as massive pro-democracy demonstrations in the city resumed.

The recent upheaval in the region continues a string of disruption that has factored into some firms’ decisions to diminish operations in Hong Kong. Most global firms were mum during last year’s protests. Early reaction this month to the proposed national security law has come from bar associations and businesses.
