Irell & Manella is the latest firm to match the fall associate bonus scale set by Davis Polk & Wardwell, while Kirkland & Ellis has reportedly announced that it won’t be entering the fray. The duality represents the diverging paths firms will take in a far-from-typical year.

On Thursday, Irell & Manella announced that the firm will dole out fall bonuses to associates Sept. 30. As with the Davis Polk bonuses, the scale begins at $7,500 for first-year associates up to $40,000 for the most senior associates.
