Boies Schiller Flexner has instituted a new 10-tier banded partner compensation system and has moved away from the formula-based, eat-what-you-kill system that defined the firm since its founding.

Experts and sources with knowledge of the firm say the new system modernizes Boies Schiller to align it with compensation systems of other big firms. But some observers think the changes came too late and cannot undo the damage done by a string of departures earlier this year.
