After six months of sustained growth, legal industry jobs leveled off in December but outperformed the overall job market, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report.

Law firms and legal departments lost a combined 200 jobs, compared with a 140,000-job decline across the BLS survey. The legal industry employs about 1,122,600 people, down from 1,160,300 in March despite steadily adding about 5,000 jobs per month between April and November.
