Two Sunbelt firms have made a play for practice leaders at New York stalwarts, and California drew another major new entrant this last week.

Miami-based Greenberg Traurig has hired former Schulte Roth & Zabel white-collar defense and government investigations co-chair Adam Hoffinger as a shareholder in its Washington, D.C., office, and he will continue to also practice in New York. Meanwhile, Texas-based Baker Botts has brought on Hughes Hubbard & Reed M&A chair Avner Bengera, who will stay in New York and serve as co-chair of cross-border M&A.
