For the Am Law 100 as a whole, average revenue per lawyer, the metric that we've long regarded as the most reliable measure of a firm's financial health, increased by nearly 5%, higher than the 3% increase at Am Law 100 firms in 2019. In 2020, 82 firms posted a gain in RPL, the same as in 2019.

Davis Polk & Wardwell posted 2020's largest growth in RPL, with a 21.9% gain. Shearman & Sterling had the largest drop, 9.3%. Figures on this chart are rounded to the nearest $1,000.
