The city of Chicago is on track to enter the final phase of a five-step COVID-19 reopening plan by next week. But law firms in the Windy City are remaining cautious before changing course on their operations. Despite federal guidance letting vaccinated people unmask, several firms here are continuing to observe masking and distancing protocols in some settings. They’re working hybrid office schedules and waiting for more clarity on what that final stage looks like.

The mayor of Chicago announced Thursday the city is on track to remove many COVID-19 restrictions by June 11, along with the state of Illinois. It’s not yet clear exactly what that entails, as the city website on reopening states that ”more information will be shared in the coming weeks regarding the city’s plan for Phase Five.”
