Two-thirds of the 68,200 legal jobs lost between March and April 2020 have returned to law offices and in-house legal departments around the country, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Situation Summary, which was released Friday.

The continued gains for legal—3,300 jobs over the past month—were a small part of one of the best months in overall jobs growth since the pandemic began. Total employment rose by nearly 1 million jobs, and unemployment fell by 0.5% to 5.4%. However, pre-pandemic unemployment was 3.5%, and 5.7 million Americans remain unemployed.
