Law firm leasing activity has slowed markedly in the second half of the summer as concerns about the delta variant multiply, according to prominent brokers, but several substantial transactions in the second half of August indicate that for firms willing to make a splash, there are good reasons to act now.

Most notably, Kirkland & Ellis announced Aug. 30 that it would be moving its Chicago headquarters to a new tower rising five blocks west of its current location in the city’s downtown business center. And earlier in August, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo said it was signing a new Manhattan lease, relocating the firm’s second-largest office.
