A survey of lawyers, business professionals and others in the legal community found that about half don’t want to “cancel” the term white shoe. But the breakdown of answers shows that while a majority of lawyers still favor the term, most business professionals and others who work in the legal community wouldn’t be upset to see it go.

The survey, conducted over a six-day period between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15, found that 50.6% of overall respondents said the industry should continue to use the label. About 44% thought the term was dated and needed to go, while 5.6% were unsure.
