Three Big Law firms with active M&A practices stocked up on tax partners this week—a move largely driven by high demand within their transactional practices, firm leaders say.

In Chicago, Greenberg Traurig gained former Kirkland & Ellis tax partner Jeffrey Ekeberg, who joined Greenberg's Chicago office as partner.

Dechert added tax partner David Passey from Schulte Roth & Zabel, a New York law firm that serves the financial industry. Also in New York, Davis Polk & Wardwell added its second tax lateral in two weeks, hiring partner Kara Mungovan away from Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
