Legal hiring paused in December after months of steady growth, according to Friday’s Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report, which also indicated a slowdown in overall job growth.

The profession employed 1,156,300 people in December, down 300 jobs from November’s adjusted employment rate. The broader workforce grew by 199,000 jobs, down from the yearly average of 537,000 new jobs per month.
