Daljit Doogal, a Foley & Lardner partner in Detroit, has been elected as the firm’s chairman and chief executive officer, succeeding Jay Rothman, who has been tapped as the next president of the University of Wisconsin System.

Doogal will move into the top management spot later this spring. Rothman, who had served as chairman and CEO since 2011 and was nearing the end of his term, will start his university job on June 1.
