Corporate associate hiring is still driving movement, but there has been a "slight cooling" in the market overall recently, observed recruiters.

Associate lateral moves in the first quarter of 2022 were only slightly down from the same time a year ago but were still very high compared with recent years, data from legal intelligence firm Decipher found.
Going forward, recruiters said they expect associate lateral activity to remain busy this year but possibly cool off more after the turbo-charged lateral environment in 2021.
