Amidst abandoned merger talks and a string of departures, Shearman & Sterling has announced a leadership change under an accelerated transition.

The firm stated Tuesday that Adam Hakki, global managing partner and head of disputes and litigation, will take over as senior partner, succeeding David Beveridge, under a formal election “later this year.” A Shearman spokesperson said Hakki could begin his tenure before the end of 2023.
