Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, after the collapse of its merger talks with several law firms, said Thursday it is taking steps to remove a “major obstacle” to a deal combination, with the firm’s partnership authorizing a complete buyout of its pension.

Law.com has reported that the firm’s pension raises challenges related to a combined law firm’s obligations post-merger.
