Cravath, Swaine & Moore has created a non-equity partnership tier, sources confirmed, in a move that comes years after competitors made the same maneuver to create more flexibility for partnership pay. And sources say more law firms are expected to modify their partnership structures and compensation systems in order to recruit and retain star talent.

Sources confirmed that Cravath created a salaried tier for some lawyers who have a partner title, while holding another tier for equity ownership within the law firm.
