Editor’s Note: This is the second installment in a monthly column by recruiter Dan Binstock of attorney search firm Garrison. This column answers the questions many of us have about how legal recruiting actually works, focusing on topics relevant both to the hiring organizations and the attorneys making a move. If you have questions to submit to Dan, email him at the contact provided below.

The Question: Dear Dan, it seems that every few days I get a bunch of very similar emails from different recruiters within a few hours. It seems to be the same job because the wording is very similar. Is there a strategic benefit in responding to the recruiter who sent the first email? (—Associate at Am Law 100 firm in Chicago)
