When I took on the role of editor of The American Lawyer in January 2017, I was over-the-moon excited—and filled with immense doubt. Doubt that I could handle the job. Doubt that I could handle the responsibility of shepherding such a critical brand. Doubt that I would even know what to do when I showed up on day 1. I didn't eat for days.

With the support of a great boss, wonderful colleagues and the readers of the publication, I quickly started to eat again. Because for someone who had grown up covering the business of law, this job quickly became so much fun. I was learning every day. I was meeting wonderful people who taught me the ins and outs of Big Law. And I got to do all this through the biggest and best platform for business of law in the world and with the best team of editors and reporters in the business. (I also promised myself that, while there may be nerves around new opportunities, I'd never doubt myself again. So the last seven years were also proof, to me at least, that taking a leap of faith can pay off.)

The past seven years have been the most rewarding to date of my professional career and have been such a privilege. I will always look back on my time as editor-in-chief of The American Lawyer as an absolute highlight of my career. And, given lessons learned seven years ago, I'm very excited to work with our broader newsroom in my new role overseeing all content for our legal newsroom.
