Miami lawyers working within the world of sanctions have experienced an uptick in work recently. And while U.S. efforts to seize condos and mega yachts owned by Russian oligarchs might come to mind, local lawyers are seeing more work come from other trends.

With some of those seized condos sitting in Miami, and an even longer history of Latin American assets being located in South Florida, the region is a natural landing spot for that work. More recently, the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control lifted some restrictions against Cuba in an effort to support private entrepreneurs and give further access to U.S. banks. But even amid loosening constraints, issues still pop up.
