American Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to face Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential race if she secures the Democratic nomination, but lawyers in Asia are skeptical she would ease strained Sino-U.S. relations and aid the regional legal market.

“Even if she does become president, it will unlikely present the positive upheaval that we need,” said one U.S. law firm partner who has been based in Greater China for almost two decades. “The general view is that she lacks foreign policy experience and will mostly toe the line with existing Biden policies.”
