Lawyers in the soon-to-be former office of A&O Shearman in Johannesburg are negotiating to join top-tier African law firm Bowmans with discussions said to be at the advanced stages.

Around 36 A&O Shearman lawyers work in the Johannesburg office, according to Law.com Compass numbers based on scraped website data. All are set to lose their jobs by the end of 2024. Bowmans, separately, has an estimated 500 lawyers.
