- K&L Gates partnered with Stanford University's Legal Design Lab for an inaugural event designed to teach stakeholders about the use of artificial intelligence for underserved consumers.
- The program was a pro bono initiative for K&L Gates, whose leaders are said to have gotten behind the push to harness the power of AI when it comes to serving underserved communities.
- The summit included participation by various individuals both inside, and outside, the legal community, including technologists, legal aid organizations, paralegals and junior attorneys.
Having made headway in using generative artificial intelligence to serve its broader client base, K&L Gates is also looking to apply the technology to pro bono work, partnering with the Legal Design Lab at Stanford Law School to address the access to justice gap.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
