USA v. Pfizer

On September 2 Pfizer Inc agreed to pay a record $2.3 billion to settle criminal and civil allegations that it illegally marketed several drugs for off-label use and paid kickbacks to doctors. The sum is the largest health care fraud settlement and the largest criminal fine in U.S. history; it’s also the latest in a string of high-profile and expensive criminal and civil settlements for the pharmaceutical behemoth.
