It is, without a doubt, one of the more bizarre trials to enter the federal courtroom in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A Brooklyn-born Hasidic butcher is on trial for alleged crimes at his kosher meatpacking plant in northeastern Iowa, where hundreds of other Brooklyn-born Hasids are said to have worked alongside hundreds of illegal immigrants. Sholom Rubashkin (pictured right), former CEO of Agriprocessors Inc., is facing a 91-count indictment on charges that include mail and wire fraud, money laundering, destroying evidence, and failing to pay livestock distributors on time, as required by law.
