After a bidding war that saw the U.S.-based Emerson Electric raise its offer for the U.K. power supplier Chloride Group by about $500 million, Emerson has finally sealed the deal for Chloride, according to The New York Times. The deal is a victory for Davis Polk & Wardwell, Emerson’s longtime counsel, and for the U.K. firm Ashurst, which advised Chloride on the matter, according to the firms.

The Swiss company ABB had previously bid $1.3 billion for Emerson but apparently is out of the running now, the NYT reports. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised ABB on the offer, according to our prior reporting. Barry O’Brien, the lead Freshfields partner on the matter, did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
