JENNIFER STOCKER has joined the Grand Rapids office of Barnes & Thornburg as a partner. Stocker will be part of the labor and employment law department, focusing on the defense of employment litigation against employers in state, federal, and appellate courts. Her most recent position was with Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt & Howlett.

Covington & Burling is welcoming two attorneys, including one former partner. JAMES GARLAND returns to the firm as a partner in Washington, D.C., after serving at the Department of Justice as deputy chief of staff and counselor to the attorney general. He specializes in complex commercial litigation, including matters involving antitrust claims and financial fraud.
