The University of Connecticut ended a 15-month internal investigation into recruiting violations at its basketball program on Friday, placing the program on probation for two years and reducing the number of scholarships it can offer during that period by one per season, according to ESPN, Yahoo!, and a trove of documents released today on UConn’s Web site.

The internal probe was sparked by allegations of recruiting violations leveled against UConn by the National Collegiate Athletic Association last year. The university owned up to some of the violations on Friday, but it’s still refusing to admit one thing: That its Hall of Fame coach, Jim Calhoun, did anything wrong.
