In light of partner Perry Palan’s pending retirement, Barnes & Thornburg announced that JAMES BURDETT will join the firm to replace Palan as leader of the IP practice group in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Burdett, formerly with Venable, has experience handling IP issues in the computing and telecommunications industries.

After recently launching an office in Stamford, Conn., Dickstein Shapiro is now bringing in a 12-person group of M&A attorneys to split time between New York and the new location. Five partners and seven associates arrive from Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge to expand the firm’s national M&A and private equity practices. CHRISTOPHER CERRITO, MARTIN CLARKE, JOHN FLAHERTY, THOMAS FREED, and EVAN SEIDEMAN will be partners with the firm. Cerrito focuses on venture capital investors and start-up companies, while Clarke represents private equity funds. Freed, Flaherty, and Seideman handle M&A issues.
