Keepseagle, et al. v. Vilsack

After 11 years of litigation, Native American farmers and ranchers have called a truce with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Justice over claims that they were systematically denied equal access to USDA low interest rate loans granted to white farmers. Plaintiffs lawyers estimate that between 10,000 and 40,000 Native American farmers could ultimately share in the recovery, at a total cost to the federal government of some $760 million.
