Intellectual property litigator MICHAEL MURRAY has joined the New York office of Winston & Strawn as a partner, the firm announced on Thursday. Previously a partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, Murray has more than 25 years of experience in IP litigation, representing clients on licensing matters and patent issues. His move brings the number of IP attorneys in the New York office to 26. Winston’s IP practice, firmwide, numbers 140 lawyers.

“[Murray's] vast experience understanding complex IP issues, along with his track record of success in the courtroom, will be an immediate asset,” said Michael Elkin, managing partner of Winston’s New York office, in a statement. According to Elkin, patent litigation is one of the core strategic areas for growth in the New York office.

A graduate of Manhattan College, Murray earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Recruiter Eileen Bloom of Mestel & Company worked with Murray and the firm on the hire, the firm said.
