The former partner in Allen & Overy’s Middle East corporate practice is heading to Freshfields. Akhtar, who specializes in M&A work, will lead Freshfields’s corporate practice in the Middle East and North Africa. He will be the fifth partner in the firm’s Dubai office; two other partners have relocated there in the past year.
