Leading off The Churn today is a set of government-to-firm moves. Ballard Spahr announced on Jan. 24 that EDWARD RENDELL will rejoin the firm as a partner in its Philadelphia office after serving two terms as governor of Pennsylvania. Rendell, who worked at the firm between 2000 and 2003, will focus on five different practice areas: infrastructure and public/private partnerships; energy; environmental; health care; and higher education.

Rendell will advise the firm’s clients on various matters that relate to local, state, and federal government agencies. As the Am Law Daily sister publication The Legal Intelligencer noted in its story, Rendell does not plan to lobby, but will assist clients in dealing with government bodies and in creating deals that appeal to state regulators.
