The economy has emerged from recession—but some Big Law litigators are still downsizing, leaving Am Law 200 digs to join boutique firms or to start their own shops.
In January, Bert Deixler, a litigator who has represented such big-name entertainment clients as Smashing Pumpkins and No Doubt, left Proskauer Rose to join his friend Richard Kendall at Kendall Brill & Klieger, a Los Angeles litigation boutique started in 2009 by Irell & Manella defectors. In February, Winston & Strawn senior litigator Thomas Wiegand departed for MoloLamken, a boutique started two years ago by Shearman & Sterling and Baker Botts alums.
