A healthy IPO market in the first quarter of 2011 allowed private equity firms to take several large portfolio companies public. In addition to the March 10 IPO of HCA Holdings, Inc. [see Big Deals], buyout shops completed IPO s of three other companies: Kinder Morgan, Inc.; Nielsen Holdings N.V. ; and BankUnited, Inc. Below we list the issuer’s and lead underwriter’s counsel on those three deals.

Kinder Morgan IPO

Shareholders of Kinder Morgan, Inc., sold $2.9 billion of the oil and gas pipeline operator’s stock in a February 11 IPO. Goldman Sachs Private Equity, Carlyle Group, L.P., Riverstone Holdings LLC, and Highstar Capital LP had completed a $22.4 billion buyout of Kinder Morgan in 2007.
