The bidding war for control of Transatlantic Holdings has landed in Delaware Chancery Court for the second time in two weeks, with Validus Holdings suing the New York–based reinsurance company Wednesday to force it to consider Validus’s multibillion-dollar takeover offer.

Validus’s suit follows one filed against the Bermuda-based company by Transatlantic on July 28. In that suit, Transatlantic alleges that Validus violated securities laws in a proxy statement and tender offer materials it presented to Transatlantic shareholders considering its bid.
